A decade without DOOM means even more gibs this time.

More than a decade in the wilderness, DOOM has finally returned, and for those of us old enough to remember the original grand-daddy of FPS’, it’s about damn time it gibbed some of the competition. Personally, I’m looking forward to the new SnapMap creation tool – Super Mario Maker with blood and guts – it looks simple enough for everyone to try their hand at it, and hopefully some of the masters can pump out another Simpsons-inspired map-pack.

Away from the latest installment, Youtuber Stuart Brown (aka Ahoy) has put together this massive 50 minute retrospective on the history and influence of DOOM on modern games – without DOOM there would be no modern FPS – add it to your Watch Later list, because it’s a great lunchtime distraction;
