PES 2016

France 2016 Euro Championship DLC for PES will be free.

PES 2016 has had a bit of a rocky start to its life, despite being widely reviewed as the best PES to date. The issue? Team rosters. When PES’ second data pack is released on the 3rd December, it will have taken more than 11 weeks after the game’s launch for teams to have the correct players. With scores of players holding off starting their Master League seasons until corrected, that’s a big chunk of the game that’s not being played by frustrated customers.

As an apology to fans, Konami is now set to release the 2016 European Championship DLC for free, to everyone. Though details of the update are unknown as yet, it’s not out of the realms of possibility that this would have been a major, paid for, expansion – something EA would, and have in the past, released as a standalone game – so it’s heartening to see Konami offer something more than just a shrug and a late release.

Konami’s Football & Alliances Director Erik Bladinieres had this to say;

“It has been a difficult few months for the fans in how we have been delivering content in our recent Data Packs, with some items missing that our consumers expected. The PES Production team appreciate their fans’ support and want to reward their support and bring back confidence in the Data Pack releases. With this announcement, we hope we can regain their trust.”

With PES having the Champions League license, a complete player roster (at least until the January window, I suppose), and with the edit mode allowing for some spectacular updates to team kits, it really does feel now that PES has been worth the (frustrating) wait to get all the pieces of the puzzle in place.
